Do your marble countertops still look dull after you clean them? Maybe you notice cloudy rings, stubborn stains, or scratches that catch the light. These problems can make a beautiful kitchen feel worn, even when everything else looks great.
That was the challenge with the etched and worn marble in this Neely Farm kitchen. N-Motion Stone and Tile Restoration restored the countertops through honing, polishing, and sealing, bringing fresh life to the stone.
A beautiful kitchen in Neely Farm
Neely Farm is an established neighborhood in Peachtree Corners, with wooded lots, rolling hills, and a community park along the Chattahoochee River. It’s a setting where natural materials feel right at home.
This kitchen pairs white cabinetry and warm wood floors with gold-toned fixtures, tall ceilings, and striking light fixtures. An arched window brings in natural light, while marble countertops tie the room together.
Soft gray and warm-toned veins run through the stone. A waterfall edge carries that pattern down the side of the countertop. These details give the kitchen its character—but etching and wear had taken away from the marble’s finish.
What’s wrong with your marble countertops?
Several common problems can change how marble looks and feels. They may look similar, but they need different treatments.
- Etching: Dull spots, cloudy rings, or splash marks can appear when acidic products react with marble. Lemon juice, vinegar, and some cleaners can cause this damage. Etching affects the surface, so regular cleaning won’t remove it.
- Staining: A stain happens when a substance soaks into the stone and changes its color. Oil, coffee, and wine can leave stains that need a treatment designed to draw them out.
- Scratches: Sliding dishes, dragging heavy items, or using abrasive cleaning tools can leave marks. Fine scratches may make the surface look hazy. Deeper scratches need a closer look.
- Dulling: Daily wear and many small scratches can leave marble looking flat or uneven. Sometimes cleaner buildup adds to the problem, which is why checking the surface first matters.
You may have more than one of these issues at the same time. Our service starts with identifying what is affecting your stone.
How our marble restoration service helps
At N-Motion, we match the treatment to the problem and the finish you want.
Honing treats etching and surface wear.
Honing uses controlled abrasives to remove a very thin layer from the marble’s surface. This helps reduce etch marks and light scratches while creating a more even finish. Deeper damage may need additional work.
Stain treatment targets discoloration.
Stains need a different approach from etching. Depending on the stain, we may use a poultice—a treatment that helps draw absorbed material out of the stone. Results depend on what caused the stain and how deeply it has soaked in.
Polishing restores shine.
For marble with a polished finish, polishing follows honing to refine the surface and bring back its shine. If you prefer a softer, low-sheen look, a honed finish may be the better choice.
Sealing helps resist future stains.
Sealing helps slow the absorption of spills, giving you more time to clean them up. A standard stone sealer does not prevent scratches or acid etching. We can explain protection options and recommend care steps for your marble.
The result in this kitchen
For this Neely Farm project, we honed, polished, and sealed the marble countertops to address the etched and worn finish.
The finished photos show light reflecting across the stone and its natural veining standing out against the white cabinetry. Around the gold-toned sink and along the waterfall edge, the restored marble feels like a central part of the kitchen again.
