Not all stone protection does the same thing.
Penetrating (Impregnating) Sealers help reduce absorption from water, oils and other liquids that can cause stains.
But marble, limestone, travertine and other acid-sensitive stones can also etch when exposed to lemon, wine, vinegar, tomato, certain cleaners and other acidic substances.
A stone can be properly sealed and still etch.
